Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) is a type of synchronous motor that uses permanent magnets to generate a magnetic field, where the rotor speed is aligned with the current frequency of the stator windings.

Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor consists of components such as stator, rotor and end cover. The stator is basically the same as that of an ordinary induction motor, and a laminated structure is used to minimize the iron consumptionwhen the motor is in operation. The rotor can be made solid or laminated . The armature winding can be centralized whole pitch winding, or distributed short pitch winding and non-conventional winding .

The magnetic field generated by permanent magnets on the rotor. The rotor is fitted with pre-magnetized permanent magnets which are capable of generating a strong magnetic field as they rotate, thus providing a greater output torque. The motor's control system regulates the current precisely to ensure that the motor rotor can rotate in synchronization with the rotating magnetic field and maintain stable operation .
